There are too many things (weapons, tools, consumables, etc.) necessary to play to assign them all to the hotbar. Having to constantly switch out your hotbar is quite tedious. Rather than having to assign consumables (such as food) to the hotbar, a simple 'right-click to consume' or a 'right-click drop down menu with consume as an option' would go a long way to making gameplay much more fluid.

Have skimmer be equipped by default

So once I had unlocked the little skimmer/ surfboard I found it kinda annoying having to always hit Z every time I get off of it. Now you can press Z on land and it'll put you right on the board when entering water.

This gave me the idea of why not have that be the default if a skimmer is equipped? So far I've not seen a legitimate reason to ever swim on the surface once the skimmer is unlocked, so if "on skimmer" is the default, hitting the regular C button can just get you off of it and dive as regular. This would simply skip the whole "equipping" every single time you get on land.

I've been scrolling for a bit to make sure the topic isn't already there, but I've not seen every single suggestion naturally, so here it goes:

It baffles me that you can seemingly not use items directly in your inventory like any other survival game. There's a whole host of tools you'll likely always have on your hotbar. Then you got healing items and food items. In pretty much any other game I can just keep some food or other items you want to have on you, but don't use *that* often in my inventory and open it up and right click it should I need to use one. But in Nera, for some reason right clicking is taking one item from the stack? Why is that not just ctrl+click like pretty much anywhere else?

In any case, I believe splitting stack/taking one item from stack should be assigned to ctrl+click or something similar and using an item should be possible from the inventory screen by simply right clicking it.

While I don't agree with cosmetics that change any of the gameplay. I do think that having little cosmetic packs so that the developers stay funded is a good idea and it gives the players something as well. They would be fully optional (boat, costume, tool skins etc.)and just be something like the founders pack. The game is fun and I want to see it succeed but I also know that development of games unfortunately isn't free and this is a good balance so that we keep the devs going.

At times I find myself wishing there were locations with truly flat ground in the game for building purposes, but just existing by default would spoil much of the natural beauty of the world of Nera. A possible solution would be the addition of something like a "soil platform", which effectively levels the land by raising the ground up to a certain level. My thinking is less that it would affect the actual ground, and be more like a structure that uses shaders to blend in with the surrounding terrain the same way structures like the Spirit Anchor already do. The most important thing though is that they would need to be able to snap together like regular platforms so that they could creature the foundation of something else placed on top of them, or at least be large enough to accommodate a structure the size of a housing frame.

Character creation- Add a "crap ton" of character creation choices. The more the better!

NPC quests would be really cool (some lore friendly "pirate style" npc quests would fit in my opinion. They could also help explain the story a little more than finding and reading the stone glyphs and the handprint messages.)

The building on the boats is an amazing feature and I would love to see that expanded upon even more in the future!

The server settings for player and enemy damage multipliers are a great start, but I would like to suggest adding a new one for EXP multipliers.

There are probably a number of people that would like to increase the amount of EXP they gain, but personally I would also like the option to also slow it down, as I levelled way too quickly while working through biomes at what I felt was a pretty fast pace, maxing out my knowledge points just before heading to the Greatwood, and even getting all elemental paths fully maxed out while making my way through the third biome. Probably this is because it was a solo run so I wasn't sharing with anyone, but regardless, the option to configure this to make progression take more or less effort as desired would be very welcome.

The ceiling for standard clay roofs as well as shaped wood floors used as a ceiling for a lower level of a multi-story structure seem to each have an invisible hitbox which covers the entire area a bit of a ways below the actual level of the ceiling. As a result, attempting to place hanging items from these ceiling types cause them to appear to be suspended in the air instead of attached to the ceiling as expected. Aside from looking weird, this can cause some larger hanging items to physically block the space below them.

I'd love to see more armor sets, weapons, resources and uses for them. Like you outgrown the need for a lot of things like sharpstone pretty quickly. I'm imaging a new armor set called the "sharpshell" set. It'd be made of shell and sharpstone. It'd be set that works around the sword and shield and damages attackers on parry and block. It'd also be good to see ways of upgrading and enhancing your armor. Like maybe you could add coral to this set for more damage in the 2nd biome and vines in the 3rd biome and or have other sets that do similar things. I think that initial cost for creating weapons and armor should be low but the cost for optimization should be high. So there could be multiple levels and uses for materials like shell, sharpstone, coral and vines. I'd also like to see more varied weapons like harpoon, javelin, spear gun, ect. And maybe some of these materials could be used in their construction. Thanks!

Speaking on my own behalf, I have built up a bit of resilience to most trypophobic things, but once it starts to show up on physical organic bodies (such as the reef land enemies) it starts to make me itch. The coral doesn't bother me, so my main aim the enemies that have trypophobic parts of their bodies.

Resource Gathering - Gameplay Interaction Overhaul

Resource gathering (chopping trees, mining, etc.) feels too passive right now. It is mostly just holding a button and waiting, which makes a core part of the game loop feel dull over time.

It would be great to add some light, skill based interaction to make it more engaging. For example, when chopping a tree, a small timing window could appear during the swing. Hitting it lands a “perfect hit” that speeds up the next swing, reduces stamina use, or lowers durability loss. Adding an active participation to enhance resource gathering, rather than being passive waiting.

This idea could extend across all gathering systems, with slight variations for each. Trees could use rhythm based timing, rocks could have aimed weak points (Fortnite), fishing could use tension control, and farming could use timing or placement.

This would not replace the current system, just enhance it for players who want a more active and rewarding experience.

Traversal Having More Personality

Traversal currently feels a bit basic and functional. Most movement comes down to running and stamina, without much depth or personality, which makes getting around the world feel less engaging over time.

It would be great to add more expressive movement and momentum. For example, sprinting downhill could build speed into a short slide, jumping while moving fast could carry extra distance, and landing from a height could roll to keep momentum. Climbing could also include small timing inputs to move faster or conserve stamina.

Even small systems like this would make movement feel more skill based and satisfying, rather than just a way to get from point A to B.

Traversal is something players are constantly doing, so improving how it feels would have a big impact on the overall experience.
