Add Climbing
- I think it could be cool to find and hide things on higher elevations. Get a good view of what's around. Nothing crazy, but when I chest spawns on the side of an unreachable cliff...
- I also keep getting stuck on small rocks and cliffs that I just barely can't jump on/over. Lest there be a pet that increases jump height, but I feel like that should be a given. At least some way to grab onto an edge so I don't always have to walk all the way around the tiny details

To reiterate a comment further up, I do think that limited climbing would be good to have even if the full on gecko-scaling of flat surfaces that other games have isn't included. Example being that small ledges just above our head height could be grabbed onto so our characters can pull themselves up. Truthfully, with how vertical most of the islands are, being unable to climb at all makes it very frustrating and unintuitive to try to find just the right path to get up to some spirits or resources, or having to build a staircase for a ledge that is eye level to the character... -

Shimuraseeing as that there is a slot for "Glider" in the characters inventory i certainly hope we get a climbing feature later on.
needing to lug around a ton of wood to continuously build staircases and ladders is not what i have in mind when i see the word Glider -

EyesI concur, with the amount of platforming puzzles and verticality there is, the mobility is too low. I don't mind the "realistic jumps" but as you said, the fact that our character is blocked on obstacles just a tiny bit taller than jump height is frustrating. No being able to move up most terrain slopes is also a bit of a problem, without talking about climbing, a walking posture that would have more "grip" on steep terrain would be lovely.
Also I dream of a way of reaching wind spirits that would involve agility instead of wild staircases, I must admit ! -

Axan436I like the freedom to build anywhere in the world and the challenge of building to get to certain areas, but it would be nice if it wasn't as necessary as it is currently. And unfortunately many will not like the idea of having to pause exploration to go into build mode. Climbing options could also be a grappling hook and rope.

Stephanie Rivet AdminWe are open to changing our mind on this, but just due to effort required to implement, we do not currently plan to do this before Early Access :(
Future biomes have some more tools to help with verticality, like updrafts and gliders - but we will reconsider this after we have some systems like this in place. -

JenaJinxWith so many cliffs and ruins around, it would really improve gameplay and immersion to be able to get up to these areas. There are so many parts of the Embrace that you cant access and get stuck because you cant climb.

Kev100% the game feels like it should have climbing. I kept thinking am I doing something wrong and maybe you can but nope lol.

Mikael@Stephanie Rivet. One way to do it once you implement the rest of the features is to have some surfaces be climbable and others not. Visually you'd make the climbable surfaces like rockfaces appear to have a lot of hand holds etc. while perfectly smooth temple walls would not allow climbing etc.

StarI second Angel. If a Breath of the Wild / Genshin style wall scaling isn't ideal or practical, then at least being able to grab onto ledges when we are very close would feel so much better.

LinusAdding an upvote, but mostly for being able to mantle up ledges. I could take or leave lengthy climbing, but I would love to be able to grab the lip of something I can jump to and climb up.

IzzyAdoraThe concept is fun, the demo is gorgeous, I would consider purchasing Early Access. However, the ability to climb a la "Tchia" (including trees) should be a top priority. The incredible gameplay dynamics and possibilities it would allow, especially in this amazing world, are worth it, and it only makes sense if a glider will be introduced. Those features would move this from a "solid OK" to an "exceptional" game. I would absolutely purchase, support the game, and recruit my friends if climbing and gliding were done well!

KozyKubThis game is already amazing and once some of the back log is taken care of after EA, I really do hope climbing will be added at some point. I upvote! This game would knock it out of the park with that and farming jus saying. I hope you guys change your minds:))

Abrawith platforming and movement controls in general being so clunky we really need to at LEAST grab onto ledges. Nothing more frustrating than just barely missing a jump because your target is half a pixel too high. You drop back to the sea and then just leave because why bother spending another 5 minutes jumping up just for some arrows you wont use?

HellgaterYes, would absolutely love to see some kind of climbing added. The need to run around every obstacle your see can be tedious, especially if its something that is near your height and IRL you could use your hands/arms and pull yourself up.

SnuffaThe only time I had to use the emergency unstuck option was after knocking an enemy off the top of a rock and following it down and getting stuck between a group of rocks. As there is no climbing, I could not get out. So there needs to be a better way of dealing with the fact you can knock enemies back off the rocks they are standing on, but then not having a way of dealing with them when the terrain has pockets you cannot get out of.

gruevyMy two cents, it feels bad and primitive not to be able to climb. 'slightly too tall rock' is the worst sort of disguised fence

ShadowdreamDefinitely would like more mobility. A magic double jump and the ability to grab a ledge and pull yourself up at minimum. A grappling hook or some other apparatus to climb in general would be nice.

MochnantI don't need climbing but ledge clamber is a must considering the terrain of the game and jump height. It's really jarring as a new player.

YoggThis would turn the game into a Breath of the Wild clone. Exploring the map, using the glider/skimmer, or skills like Updraft to make a wind geyser help with the exploration aspect and critical thinking involved to find newer areas in biomes.

Daxbald MergedOne feature that would greatly improve exploration is the ability for characters to grab onto edges and climb up higher surfaces. Since Voyagers of Nera has many rocky islands and mountainous terrain, it often feels clunky when trying to reach slightly elevated areas. For example, if I jump toward a rock that only reaches waist height, the character simply falls back down instead of pulling themselves up.
Adding a “grab from edges” mechanic would make movement more fluid, reduce frustration, and allow players to explore islands in a more natural and enjoyable way. It would fit perfectly with the adventurous spirit of the game. -

Stephanie Rivet System"Grab From Edges - Ledge Climbing" (suggested by <Hidden> on 2025-10-01), including upvotes (1) and comments (0), was merged into this suggestion.

luafenrirwould love some basic climbing too that use a lot of stamina. So won't scale any mountains but can at least get up a small boulder.

JulianI think the game definitely needs to add verticality otherwise it's a missed opportunity.

SplntrHi there, I second this man, at least making where we can grab on to ledges... an exploration game around this age of gaming where you cant scale a terrain to some degree even without a tool is almost like making a spiderman game without allowing you to swing around. I saw where you said a mechanic such as this is hard to implement, ok I'm not a dev so I take your word for it. if you dont want to implement climbing thats fine, but at least try and make it where we can grab on to ledges man...

SteelbaneThe feature 'seems' really popular, but I'm realising that this was requested prior to updrafts being a thing (you can even make your own updraft), I imagine it was quite painful before... but in the current game I think climbing would break most of the point of the gliding puzzles in the game.
Just to note, you can pop your glider for a millisecond to get over a ledge thats 'just' too high, not sure if by design.. but I use it a lot. -

KaiI'm going to echo a bunch of other people and chime in with the opinion that we ABSOLUTELY need at least basic mantling to get up onto ledges and clamber over waist-high obstacles.
I don't care about extreme, unrealistic, spider-man style sheer rock climbing, like in Palia or Wild Sky , but our clearly athletic characters being unable to climb up onto a ledge that is clearly within their reach is frustrating and a little disappointing in a game with this much other freedom of exploration and movement. It makes the game feel intentionally clunky, like an archaic 3d platformer, when you aren't allowed onto a platform if your feet can't reach from a standing jump.
If this was a conscious design choice, it's a poor one, and one of my least appreciated aspects of the game so far. If it was just an inconvenient byproduct of level design, that needs to be rethought and addressed, because as of right now it's a major sticking point and likely my single biggest complaint. -

MeliPixieNever not completely devastated that this isn't in the plan. Climbing is one of my favorite things about open world games. Incorporating stamina or clipping to stop us getting higher than intended could help with some issues. Why is this being denied T_T

SGHarlekinSad to see this as "Not planned". There are so many high cliffs to climb and admire the view, but the way you simply slide off of the most measly inclines was an immediate bummer.
