Better, more interactable spirit companions.
1. This one is pure whimsy, but I’d love to be able to interact with the spirits in some way. Maybe cooking / eating with them, playing “catch” with a coconut, carrying one around in a little backpack carrier like Luke did with Yoda on Degobah…they’re so freaking cute and I’d simply like to be able to interact with them rather than just use them as forced labor 😭
2. As a way to integrate spirits more, it could be fun if they could be couriers and transport / fly / carry small items back to base for you. For instance, if you got a rare item and you’re worried about dying / getting stuck before you get back to base, you could give that item to your spirit friend and they could take it safely back home for you. Limit on size / weight to keep it fair.
3. This is super silly, but it would be adorable if your spirit companion had an animation where, whenever you’re running / skimming / swimming REALLY fast, they’re clinging onto your shoulders for dear life.

I had live interactive mobs in play test and the jokes they played, were awesome in the Reef. -

GLittle interactions with the companion would be so solid. Right now, I just admire how cute my turtle is: What if I wanted to pet it or watch it retract into its shell when it detects an enemy for the first time in an area? That'd be cool!

YennfaeI would love for them interactive with each other too. Perhaps maybe couple interactions💖

PorcelainI'd love to be able to assign spirits to the crafting benches to give crafting a speed boost or maybe to require less materials to make something.

chirpthebirdShould allow hide or unequip. Companion can be distracting - especially underwater. Spirit Companions are boring and lack purpose. No lore. No interaction. No names.

AI agree that the spirits are one of the best conceptual elements of the game, but are currently rather forgettable.
Little interactions go a long way to getting players to invest in these characters.
A few thoughts:
1) The ability to name your spirit companion
2) The ability to play/pet/hug with your spirit companion
3) Spirit companions interact with rescued spirits
4) Non-travelling spirit companions lounge around your base (I'd love to see the little salamander sleep next to a campfire or the manta splash around the spirit anchor) -

ty MergedI love the idea of being able to interact with your elemental spirit like being able to pet it or be able to talk to it even if its canned dialog like pointing out that your getting stronger or something
i just feel as it is the spirit just follows you around not doing much feels kind of empty -
