  This would be so nice. I never kill fish in this game because it's so inconvenient. You need to have a ship and be in close proximity to use a bow/arrows. Chasing them with a spear is a nuisance and they are far and few between. Fishing with a rod seems like something this game should already have.

  Crab pots that can be collected from, similar to Stardew Valley would be welcome too! Also if possible, some sort of fishing net that collected fish while sailing would be something nice.

  This with craftable fish trophies/mounts or aquarium for decoration as rewards besides fishing for food.

  Honestly with how easy it is to jump on the skimmer, find a fish, fall off, spear the fish, and hop back on the skimmer I can collect quite a bit of fish chunks in very little time. Now shellfish takes longer because of the gathering action or fighting crabs.

  I'd be happy with just a minor change to Spearfishing... Allow a spear to Auto-Collect Fish Chunks (and maybe Morsels), that would make spearfishing so much more convenient!

  Having more in-depth fishing would fit this world perfectly! We already have a means to display trophies - maybe add trophies that have a chance to drop from different types of fish. Ooh Ideas!
  
  - Maybe a net to catch fish for adding to an aquarium
  - Which would lead to more fish varieties \o/
  - A new crafting table for fishing (cleaning the fish, making bait/hooks/lures)
  - New recipes for: fishing rods, bait, hooks (could be an upgrade to the fishing rod instead? Or make use of the Infusing Table)
  - Passive Fishing: Ship nets, or a beach version similar to the Desalinator as a passive way to gather fish (at a slower rate so fishing doesn't get unbalanced)
  
  And of course a wide variety of fishy/ocean decor would be fintastic!

  I second this, also the idea for crab pots or maybe even a net you can attach to the dock as a passive fishing method!

  Sure wonder how this is not in the game by default. How you make an ocean themed game without some fishing is beyond me xD Just please let us fish anywhere in the water and not try to seek out actual fish? Always find that really annoying.
