Less shared progression!!
For a better server and co-op experience we need less of the progression to be shared, take Valheim for example its possible to have a server of 10 people doing their own thing until it's time for boss battle and then group up! Its impossible to have so many things being shared and not have it interfere and destroy the individual players experience!

It would be best as a server toggle IMO since there are reasons to share progression at time too, such as end-game replays or to quickly bring a new player closer to your level faster. -

M9 - 9LetterStudios MergedThe idea of multiplayer is a bit confusing as I believe this game doesn’t really benefit from dedicated servers. The reason being is that dedicated servers are usually done so that anyone can log in at any time and progress at their own speed.
However, in this game, any spirits freed or bosses defeated are server wide. That means one person that speed run the game on a dedicated server and not leave anything else for anyone else to do.
I suppose this game is more co-op that just open world survival. But it would be nice if players could maybe create clans or tribes and their progress was tracked as a clan. Or individually per player. So everyone has a chance to do the things.
That way I can have 10 people on my server and they can all progress at their own speed but we can help each other and work together as needed.
Also, I think PvP would be really fun with different tribes having to compete for resources and such. -

Jin_D3vilI like this game a fair bit but feel that it restricts the co-op/multiplayer element with how it manages progress. Ideally people should be able to experiance each part themselves. Even if the collection of the same Spirit or event doesn't increase the actual number of items the players have. This would allow it to remains balanced as you may have planned.
Having people struggle to get together to be able to progress together makes the co-op a lot more difficult. If someone isn't able to join one day, they may miss a significant event or completely miss the story because it all gets completed without them. This plays more like traditional split screen or shared co-op game.
I feel this is a shame as it's a beautiful game that I feel would really benefit from lager player numbers and the creative building like Valheim and other games have. I'd love to be able to play this with friends and not feel that being late or busy would make the experiance less complete for myself or others. -

TheBuckMcDancerI would add to this, I would love to see a system that allows community dedicated servers where multiple people can get really into exploring and building and creating amazing things without needing to worry about accidentally advancing the server for everyone else. But if this is somehow implemented in the future, please make it a setting that people can turn on or off similar to how Valheim did this for base raids difficulty being server wide tied to the first defeat of a boss, or having the option to have those raids tied to the individual's progression. Making it a toggle setting means both sides can play how they want (which is always good!)

DannyThis needs to be a server setting, as I want all shared XP, my mate and I only log on the game together, and someone doing the building will out level the other one not doing anything but fighting, so this needs to be a server setting. I want shared XP for everything.

Juan MergedCurrently, it appears that quests tend to be server-based, e.g., if one player makes a boat, that quest is resolved for all players. A better understanding of what is shared vs individual would be appreciated, as well as maybe an evaluation of character progression tutorial items vs overall world goals (server/instance) based.

SlyYeah I also think individual prog would be better, shared maybe via a party system or something. My wife and I did all the content together so shared would make sense but if I wanted to get a new friend into the game or they asked after seeing me play it, it feels bad to tell them yeah just make your own game cause there's nothing for you to do in mine lol
