Procedural Dungeons
Hello, back again with another post! So far I'm loving the game, however I have to say that knowing the game is handmade and so far not huge in size, it worries me that it won't be hard to run out of things to do in the world. Currently we have a good amount of islands scattered around with spirits to save and monsters to slay, and I understand that this game is currently aimed at a "chill-survival" genre, but I think many players, myself included, would love to see some more replayability in the game.
The idea I had is that, despite the game being handmade, there could be some "caves" scattered around the map that contain much harder challenges (imagine a harder and more in-depth version of the construct challenges). These "caves" would be created as random tileset pieces to create a seemingly procedural dungeon, and enemies within it would go from easier to harder, with a boss at the end. There could be one or a couple of them per biome, and would reward you with powerful items.

Daxbald MergedIt would be great to have dungeons scattered across the world that feature optional bosses. These wouldn’t be required for the main storyline but would reward players who choose to explore and take on the challenge.
Optional dungeons could offer unique loot, resources, or even legendary items, making exploration feel more rewarding and giving players memorable encounters beyond the main missions. This would add depth, replayability, and a strong sense of adventure to Voyagers of Nera. -

JoshProcedural dungeons get repetitive eventually, but it would add a lot of hours to playability.

Mr Defox MergedCould make it cyclical e.g. Dungeons that stay for x amount of time before they disappear beneath the wave and mist. Could be an easy way to expand content while making end game varied

Mr DefoxYeah end game dungeons would be great. But If you really wanted to add shelf life add a PvP / raid modes with endgame dungeons

RevenantWit MergedHave some instanced dungeons/areas you can enter in the world. Maybe one or two in each area. These could even have different themes depending on the dungeon. Like a combat dungeon, or a puzzle dungeon(i.e. traps, jumping puzzles, secret switches, etc.). Maybe even a dungeon entrance could be underwater and make it so you have to progress from air pocket to air pocket. Rewards could even vary each dungeon as well maybe some special gear, foods, spirits, tools, etc. Could even move trials to being inside a dungeon too.

Rick MergedNot a huge fan of parkour in games, but puzzles would be fun. Maybe you need to find a power stone and drop it on a trigger to get access to something?

SteelbaneDoesnt have to be procedural imo, thats probably a time-consuming technical challenge for such a small feature (i.e. its not a procedural game), but I assume at some point they will add some sort of end game mini-dungeons or legendary boss fights or items to create.. something to keep us pushing.
It might give the game another week or month of playtime. -
